The London School of Business and Finance (informally the LSBF) is a business school based in London, United Kingdom. It offers Master's degrees programmes in management and finance; bachelor degrees; executive and corporate training; and professional qualification training for the ACCA, CFA, CIM and CIMA qualifications. The LSBF's programmes are currently validated by partner institutions.

The LSBF is based in Holborn and Marble Arch in central London, with other locations in the UK and internationally. The LSBF's teaching and education philosophy is based on the concept of offering students the opportunity to pursue both an academic programme and a professional qualification.[1]

Professor James Kirkbride has been Vice-Rector of the LSBF since September 2010 and Professor Alfred Morris has been Chairman of the Board of Governors since 2011. The institution's Royal Patron is Prince Michael of Kent .[2][3]

Locations

The LSBF is based in Central London with campuses in Holborn and Marble Arch. It also has campuses in Manchester and Birmingham, and its first campus outside of the UK opened in Toronto, Canada in February.[4] LSBF's second international campus was opened in Singapore,[5] offering preparatory courses for the ACCA professional qualification as well as Executive and Corporate Training.

The LSBF has signed partnership agreement with a leading Chinese University which will see the formation of a new institute, the Shanghai-London School of Business and Finance.

In June 2011 the LSBF opened a new campus in Singapore, currently the only Asia-Pacific campus of a UK-based business school.

In line with LSBF's expansion into the Far East, the school will offer bursaries to Singaporean students who have completed their ACCA studies to pursue Master's degrees online, or in the UK.

The LSBF also has representative offices in Switzerland, the Czech Republic, Hong Kong, the United Arab Emirates, Pakistan, Kazakhstan, Russia, Colombia and India.[6]

Affiliations and accreditations

The LSBF collaborates with Grenoble Graduate School of Business to provide two year Master’s degree programmes including MBA, MSc in Finance, and Master of International Business (MIB) in addition to one undergraduate degree, Bachelor in International Business. LSBF collaborates with Grenoble Graduate School of Business to provide dual MBA programs, which combine an MBA degree with another program, such as ACCA, CFA or CIMA. LSBF developed its degree programs in partnership with the University of Wales, Bradford University and the University of Central Lancashire.

The LSBF is also certified by the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) for tuition for the Diploma in Financial Management[7]

In 2010, with the introduction of the new Tier System by the UK Border Agency (UKBA), LSBF was one of the few institutions to be awarded the Highly Trusted Sponsor Status by the UKBA, and is also a BAC accredited Tier 4 sponsor. Its professional courses are regulated by the respective professional bodies such as CIM and ACCA, which both have their own strict accreditation standards. The ACCA course offered by LSBF is credited by ACCA as gold standard. LSBF’s English school is accredited by the British Council and is affiliated with English UK - the language teachers association. LSBF is listed on the UK Government’s Education (Listed Bodies) Order in 2010, laid before Parliament as a Statutory Instrument by the Minister of State for Universities and Science, David Willets, MP.

Online

The LSBF delivers a wide range of programs through an online learning platform called InterActive. This includes MBA, MSc in Finance, MSc in Marketing, ACCA, CIMA and CFA. Students have access to online classrooms, discussion forums and a range of resources including live and recorded video lectures, 24-hour technical support service, online library and Harvard Business School 'Case in Point' publications to support their learning activities. Students' activity is monitored and students who may have fallen behind are identified and supported.

In 2010 the LSBF developed two ground-breaking applications using the social media platform Facebook: The LSBF Prep Centre for ACCA,[8] a comprehensive study resource for students of ACCA, and the LSBF Global MBA,[9] the world's first Masters degree that is delivered entirely on Facebook, in a ‘try before you buy’ manner. Both applications offer high quality study material that is available for all to view, free of charge. Students of the LSBF Global MBA have an additional option to opt in for evaluation and pay for qualification certified by the University of Wales.[10] Both applications have been recognized and reported in national and international media: the LSBF Global MBA was featured in the likes of The New York Times,[11] Reuters,[12] and Bloomberg,[13] while the LSBF Prep Centre for ACCA was awarded the ‘Study Resource of the Year’ by PQ Magazine in February 2011.[14] As of February 2011, the LSBF Prep Centre for ACCA received over 36,000 likes on Facebook and the LSBF Global MBA got nearly 90,000.
